We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Paralegal to join our team

SEN Legal is a specialist education and disability law firm with a national client base. We act solely on behalf of parents/young persons in relation to all matters regarding their child’s special educational needs including Judicial Review, Social Care, Personal Budgets, Exclusions and Admissions Appeals.

The main duty of the role of the Paralegal is to provide support to the Solicitors/Legal Executives and assist in the management of client cases. You will be allocated a number of cases on which you will be expected to take responsibility, working alongside the Solicitor/Legal Executive and managing the day to day correspondence and developments relating to the client’s case.

An example of the tasks associated with the role:

  • To liaise closely with our clients at all times so that they are kept fully informed. This will be by telephone, email and occasionally face to face.

  • To ensure that Lawman and the Outlook Office Diary are kept up to date with all ‘Key Dates’ and deadlines.

  • To monitor all deadlines on assigned cases, and liaise with the Solicitor/Legal Executive as to their compliance.

  • To keep the Lawman files in good order and ensure that all files are appropriately named and given easily identifiable titles.

  • To lodge Appeals as and when required.

  • To send out Provision of Place Forms as required.

  • To submit GDPR requests as required, and to sift records received under guidance of the Solicitor/Legal Executive.

  • To draft FOI responses as required.

  • To assist with the preparation of evidence for the Further Information deadline and liaise with expert witnesses as to timescales.

  • To serve Additional Evidence as required.

  • To draft Requests to the Tribunal under guidance of the Solicitor/Legal Executive.

  • To collate bundles for Counsel.

  • To liaise with Counsel and Counsel’s Clerks as to upcoming Hearings.

  • To arrange any meetings that may be required during the course of a case.

  • To arrange conferences as and when required.

  • To undertake instructions as given by the Solicitor/Legal Executive assigned to the case in order to ensure good management and the smooth running of all our cases.

All applications should be sent to hayley.mason@senlegal.co.uk and are to be received by close of business on Wednesday 18th December 2019.
